Many congratulations to James Wheeler and Alfie Edwards who were presented with League Trophies at the PDCL AGM on 17 August.
James won the John Grant Trophy, the winner having the highest percentage score in any Division of the PDCL!!
Alfie took the Wilf Pratten Trophy, a single percent behind! Two tremendous performances.
The British Chess Championships were held at Warwick University this summer.
The top tournament, the British Chess Championship is the sternest of tests with GMs, IMs etc a plenty.
Congratulations to Vinuda for playing in this prestigious tournament and achieving an excellent score of 3.5/9.
The Club AGM will be held on Monday 10 August.
The League AGM will be held at the Club on Monday 17 August at 7:15.
Jaimie Wilson shared 2nd place at the Portsmouth Individual on Saturday 4 July, held at Emsworth Chess Club.

l am pleased to advise that overall this year’s winner was Jamie Wilson with an outstanding score of 258.50 points. He was closely followed by Alan Reed in second place with 253.50 points and Kyall Guy in third place with 251.46 points. Well done to all three players for great performances.
Also well done to Graham Ellis for the highest score in the second round of the competition.
A total of 58 games played under match conditions during the competition, so my thanks to everyone participating for getting games scheduled and played.

The club AGM will be held on 10 August, followed by the League AGM on 17 August, both at the Fishbourne Centre,
Jaimie Wilson and Bill McDougall shared 3rd place in a field of approximately 50 at the Fareham Rapid Tournament on 6 June.

The Portsmouth Individual Championship will be held at Emsworth chess club on Saturday 4 July.

Remel held the draw versus Vinuda to reach an excellent score of 5.5/6 and claim the 2025-26 club championship.

Remel leads the tournament on 5 wins out of 5. Impressive stuff, including his win against title rival Rolandas in his round 5 match up. He now has to face defending Champion, Vinuda, in his final game – so if he walks away with the title, he will have well and truly earned it.
