If travelling by road from the Emsworth direction along the A259, turn left into Blackboy Lane, the Fishbourne Centre is short distance along Blackboy Lane on the right hand side just before the railway gates. Although the entrance of Blackboy Lane is easy to miss there is a signpost to The Fishbourne Centre directly opposite the entrance to Blackboy Lane on the right hand side. If travelling from the Chichester direction Blackboy Lane is, obviously, on the right hand side and is the next turning after Salthill Lane.
If travelling by rail The Fishbourne Centre is a five minute walk from Fishbourne Station and the directions are as follows:
When leaving the station turn immediately right, if arriving from the Portsmouth direction you will need to cross the level crossing if travelling from the Chichester direction you will not.
Keeping on the right hand pavement proceed straight ahead 120 yards to the pedestrian lights where you turn right at some galvanised railings, proceed along the footpath (take care) following the path left then right. Keep the small ditch on your right and a pond on the left. Continue to follow the made up path and the Centre is on the right 200yds after the pond.
Please note the path is unlit and a reliable torch is recommended as is stout footwear during inclement weather. If suitable arrangements are made in advance, then a member of Chichester Chess Club will meet a train provided the precise timing has been agreed.
Currently (September 2014) there is a train from Havant (leaves 18:56) which stops at Fishbourne 19:13. A westbound train leaves Chichester at 19:11 and stops at Fishbourne 19:14
