The tournament is a seeded 6 round Swiss Tournament, open to all Club Members who have registered with the tournament controller prior to commencement – everyone is encouraged to enter. The winner will be the Club Champion.
There will be an U1700 tournament within this and the winner of that will receive the Peter Rayment Trophy. There will be a further competition U1500 for a keeper trophy.
The limit date for the first round is Monday 10th October. It is expected that the first round will be played on this date. Other limit dates will be published as soon as possible after the PDCL fixture dates are available.
The default arrangement is that games will be played on the limit date at the Club venue.
If this date is not possible then a different, earlier, date, must be confirmed between the players and the controller must be informed. Timely communications between players is required.
Fixtures and results are planned to be managed through the club’s website where possible.
The time limit will be 70 minutes plus a 10 second increment for all moves. Digital clocks must be used.
All games must be scored by both players. A player may stop scoring when they have less than 5 minutes remaining on their clock. Please use the self-duplicating scoresheets and put the yellow copy in the box provided.
All participants must reasonably expect to complete all 6 rounds. The last round is likely to be during May / June 2023.
Tournament Controller is Steve Smith. This role will provide dispute resolution as necessary. Any appeals against any such decision will be referred to the Club committee for final arbitration.
If you have any questions then please ask.

Playing in the Caplin Menchik Memorial in June, Kamila made the excellent score of W4 D2 L2 for 5.5/9 and an impressive 4th place in an event where she was the lowest seed.
To top it off this fine result also gave Kamila her first WIM norm.
Harriet Hunt in Chess Magazine rated this win Kamila’s best game.
