The Christmas buzzer tournament was held on Monday 16 December.

19 players joined the fun (or mayhem) as we moved to the buzzer tempo.

Winners this year were:

Santa – Andrew on tie break from Tom in a tough top group

Rudolph – Bill just squeezing past last years Mrs Claus!

The Elves – Paul winning a very tight group

The Grinch – Steve dominating the group

The North Pole – Julius after a madcap bullet playoff

Mike and Chris won the lucky dip prizes, thanks Ilona for drawing that (except throwing my tag away!)

Paul provided the buzzer, an improved version from last year we all thought!

Chichester Chess Club Championship Round 4 Draw 2024 -2025

For a bit of fun we are planning on a second ‘Buzzer Blitz’ Christmas tournament on Monday 16 December.

The buzzer is set to an interval and YOU MUST move exactly on the buzzer – or you lose!

Last year’s event was a lot of fun, so we are trying again.

PLEASE ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 7:15 AS THERE IS A BIT OF ADMIN AND A TIGHT SCHEDULE.

Round 3 is Monday 9^th December

Chichester juniors continue to compete and do well.

At the Worthing Grand Prix Rahul scored 4.5/6 in the U12 to be 2= / 30 while Vishal scored a creditable 2.5/6 as he hadto play in U18 section!

Meanwhile Isaac scored 4/ 5 in the minor section of the Castle Congress.

Jaimie Wilson and Steve Coe both registered success at the Hampshire Rapid held on 7 September. Well done!

This first Hampshire Rapid attracted 62 entrants with a generous prize fund and was hugely successful.

Jaimie was 2= on 5/6 while Steve shared the U1800 Grading Prize with 4/6.

Our former Treasurer Ian Judd played in the strong U1900 AM British Championship at Hull this summer.

In a tough competition Ian scored an excellent 3/6 including a fine sacrificial game that can be found here .

The League AGM will be held at the club at 7:15 on Monday 19 August.
